Robert Lauri’s Liberty album is now available in France from one of the main French music download websites. The album is also available from other major download websites worldwide and contains eleven varied titles, including two instrumentals. Each track has its own musical ambience, as have the tracks Je Ne Peux Plus, J'ai Si Peur, Toi, Mon Destin and C'est Lui.

The Liberty album was recorded in Paris and New York City and reflects the riches of those different cultures by mixtures of several musical styles. The Liberty project is the fruit of the joint efforts of Alain Pype, French sound engineer, and Robert Lauri. Three tracks, "Liberty" ("Liberté") and "So Much Love, So Much Hate" ("Tant s’aimer, tant se haïr") and "C'est Lui" ("it's Him" ) are released as singles.

With the single "Liberty", title and extract of the album composed and performed by Robert Lauri, the public sets off on the discovery of the new album of the same name - "Liberty". This song is at the same time a mixture and an example of synergy between the Pop and Rap musical genres.

The lyrics of the French version are by Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl. The English adaptation is by Vivien Goldman. The English voice is that of Laura Carbonell Smith. The Rap part is written and performed by Robert Lauri’s son (Jessy), JNB.

The single "So Much Love, So Much Hate", is one of the album’s varied moods where intense choruses rise in a hum, while a Scandinavian-style walk provides the backdrop rhythm.

More than 6.000.000 internet users have already discovered the videos of these titles, as well as an instrumental, Energy, Toi mon destin (You, my destiny) and It's Him (C'est Lui) on different websites.

Two albums with some hits and some till today, unreleased timeless songs are now also available: " "If I Die By Chance" And "Still Believe In It" ("Si je meurs par hasard" and "j'y crois encore")

Robert Lauri has been an author, a composer and a performer since his tenderest years. His musical career has been punctuated, for more than thirty years, by some records and a successful international career - both in the United States and in Europe - with the Alef Band.

Mannieb on "Rollin' Connolly's Pub With Hell's Kitchen Rocker"

Connolly's Pub and Restaurant, located at 121 W. 45th street in mid town, was the host for the launch of Not Fade Away Records' third album "The Cost" by the Tim Young Band.

The party was a terrific celebration of over a year's hard work. Recording began on the album during March of 2007. Tim had located the independent production team of Counter Clockwise Music through an association with Mike Stephens who hosts a podcast in Wayne, MI. Producer Mark Meisel heard the track 'Renegade' on Mike's podcast and became interested in contacting Tim.

Tim Young - "The Cost"
http://musicdish.net/mp3/Tim_Young_Band-The_Cost.mp3

That's how the story begins. The rest, as they say, is history. The collaboration between Tim Young Band; Tim Young, rhythm guitar and lead vocals; and Sand Edwards, drums; and all involved from Counter Clockwise has been, in my humble opinion, a smashing success.

Since such strong bonds had been created during the week when basic tracks were recorded, not to say anything about the months of mixing through via emails, it only seemed damn appropriate that the entire Detroit team be on hand for the release party. Let's say I was more than pleased when after I made the suggestion to Mark Meisel and Bob Becker that they get themselves to New York City for this party, they enthusiastically approved.

To make things even more complete, two other players who made such important contributions to 'The Cost' were also able to attend. Dave Leeds, who plays bass on all the tracks, as well as Bob's brother, Rick Becker, who added the amazing electric guitar parts to the remake of 'Renegade.' Mark Meisel also tore the place up with his electric guitar. Mark added electric guitar to all the other tracks on the album in addition to all the keyboard parts.

It was the celebratory mood and the rejoining of old friends that helped to lift the party into the higher vibe at Connolly's. The Klub Room is the party room and the good times are as easily spilled there as a pint of beer. Many old and new fans of the band were in attendance. Over one hundred in all. The constant gigging among the bars of Hell's Kitchen's ninth avenue have turned out to be so very valuable.

Aiding to the sounds of the party was Tim's son, Adam, who brought along his laptop packed with great rock n roll to fill in the gaps when the band was not performing. Adam was also involved in one of the highlights of the show during a jam of Tim's song 'New Orleans' at the very end of the performance when he and engineer Bob Becker popped up on stage to help sing the chorus.

That's what was so appealing about the mood of the evening. An extended family brought back together for a reunion and I think everybody could feel those connections. Marks' wife, Billie Meisel, also helped keep things flowing smoothly by seeing that everyone that came into the room received their copy of 'The Cost' for their five dollar contribution.

The music and enthusiasm would not be contained once the Klub Room had to dim the lights so an impromptu after party materialized at The famous bastion of dive bars, Rudy's, over on ninth avenue and 44th street. The band and the entire Detroit contingent swooped into Rudy's where, Danny, the most cordial manager, immediately tossed 'The Cost' CD on the player and everyone drank toasts aplenty. A fitting night cap to an evening replete with great friends and rock n roll.

Ryan Farish - "Holding Hands" [Wonderfall]

Holding Hands' is a relaxing, ambient number with a memorable piano line and soothing breakbeat sounds. This peacefulness remains throughout the song and one cannot help the sense of feeling empowered by the music. By the time the choir vocals chime in, you will be hooked into a serene listening experience.

New York, NY - Grassy Hill Entertainment artist Amy Speace will be joining an impressive line-up during Joe's Pub 10th Anniversary Gala in tribute to legendary musician, champion of emerging artists, and New Yorker Judy Collins. The Gala will take place on October 10th and will begin with a celebration dinner at The Chinatown Brasserie and will continue at the Anspacher Theater at The Public Theater for the Judy Collins Tribute.

Produced by Joe's Pub and Katherine DePaul (President, Wildflower Records) Joe's Pub 10th Anniversary Gala will be hosted by legendary WFUV DJ, Pete Fornatale and will honor Judy Collins' impressive career that has spanned nearly 50 years, her commitment to the music industry, and her history with the Public Theater.

The benefit tribute concert will coincide with the release of 'Born To The Breed - A Tribute to Judy Collins, Vol. I' due for release October 14th on Wildflower Records. The disc features Amy Speace alongside the likes of legends Dolly Parton, Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Chrissie Hynde, James Murdriczki, Jim Lauderdale, Leonard Cohen, Dar Williams, Bernadette Peters, Ali Eskandarian, Joan Baez, Kenny White, Jimmy Webb, and The Webb Sisters.

From the rustic rush of "Step Out of the Shade" to the bittersweet lilt of "Water Landing" to the gentle acoustic intimacy of "Two," Songs for Bright Street's 12 original compositions (plus a slyly countrified reading of the Blondie classic "Dreaming") showcase Speace's unique gifts, offering catchy Americana with indelible hooks, sharply observed lyrics and a gritty urban edge. Among those impressed by her sassy songcraft is legendary folk-pop songstress Judy Collins, who chose Songs for Bright Street to release on her new Wildflower label.

Amy Speace has already won a loyal grass-roots fan base, thanks in large part to live performances that merge warmth, humor and emotional immediacy, and to a tireless touring schedule that's already taken her across the United States. She's also won considerable critical acclaim, with The Village Voice observing that Speace is "taking her Americana away from twangy contemplation toward tangy confrontation" and noting that she's "not another of those breathy would-be child poets, but a real singing writer of songs."

Battle 5 has officially begun! There are only 4 bands this time, however hopefully this battle will be the greatest turn out yet. This is the final chance for any of these bands to make it into our finals.

Also, we will continue to accept entries for future battles, however, there will be no new bands entered into a battle until 2009. The rest of 2008 is now devoted to the finals and championship rounds!

Billy on "Two PA Amps for Sale!"

I am wanting to sell a crown XLS 200watt PA amp and another 200watt soundtech PA amp. I barely used the crown amp and it looks like these:
http://www.crownaudio.com/amp_htm/xls.htm
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=245-465

This is what the soundtech amp looks like:
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s171/indieshows/Picture5-1.png

The crown amp is $299 new, but I'd be willing to sell it for $199, then with the soundtech amp, which has 4 XLR inputs and 6 guitar/aux inputs the price would go up to $250 OBO.

Why am I selling? Simple. I'm not in a band right now, I don't use them, and I don't have the storage space for them.

Oh, and shipping is including in that $250 price if you live in the U.S. But I would have to receive the payment before I would ship the amps.

Just respond to this post if you're interested.

We just realized something and fixed it. You may or may not of noticed... the "img" tag which allows you to post images was posting like this: [img=http://theimage.com/theimage.jpg], which is wrong, so the image wasn't showing up. It should be formatted like so: . So that is fixed and we also added some basic smileys. I personally could do without them, but many people like them, so if you click the smiley face at the top right of the post box the smileys will pop up.

The 2nd time I've seen TLV live and they did not disappoint at all. Wish I could say the same about the crowd. Once again Rockford proves that it is a shitty town for bands to play.

Bar 3 has a lot of potential. Be careful when they decide to set off the smoke machine though ! *cough* *cough* . Nice to see them providing a place for local and independent music. Wonder how long it'll be before people stop referring to it as 'the old Surf Lounge'. (former titty bar) ;D

Saw the band 'Bill' (stupid name) prior to The Last Vegas taking the stage. Metal/stoner rock with some interesting rhythms and a piss poor sound mix -couldnt hear the vocalist.

The Last Vegas ROCKED. Here's a few pics:

The Last Vegas from Chicago IL

Crowd sucked. Band did NOT.

Chad Cherry - vocals

John Wator - guitar

Adam Arling - guitar

Anthony Rubino - bass

Nate Arling - drums

Rock!

Met Nate and John briefly after the set - good guys ! Nate once again smashed the hell out of his drum kit. The nickname 'Animal' is an appropriate one. John finished up the last song of the set 'Love Me When I'm Bad' by soloing on top of one of the old stripper stages on the side of the bar. ;D

Stand out tracks included:

Good Deal For Bad Times
Loose Lips (hope to have video posted soon)
Raw Dog
High Class Trash
Love Me When I'm Bad
So Young So Pretty So What

Check their website - www.thelastvegas.com - for the latest news and concert dates. The Last Vegas is definitely a band you should see live if you get the chance.

Cool! I'll have to check them out... I can't right now because it's 2:30am and I'll wake my girlfriend up if I play the music, and I don't feel like getting out headphones right now... laziness. But, I'll try to listen tomorrow, and I'll tune into the Big Show on Wednesday.
